“Walk the line” is Kolab Architects + Jørgen Tandbergs submission to the 2015 NordicBuilt Cities challenge on revitalising Trygve Lies plass.
The proposal suggests a light superstructure which in the centre frames and structures the space of the new square. The square contains shallow pools, a fruit garden, a stage, several sports and games areas, allotment gardens, and an outdoor gym. The lighted u-glass ceiling gives light to the square and provides necessary infrastructure for the adjacent commercial programs, in order for them to expand their activities outdoors. As an overall ambition the project facilitates new activities and contemporary ways of experiencing public space via a minimum of architectural interventions.
